Washed… Yet Worthy of the Cross
Maundy Thursday: The Night Love Bent Low
Scripture: John 13:4–5, 12–15 (NIV)
> “So He got up from the meal, took off His outer clothing, and wrapped a towel around His waist… He poured water into a basin and began to wash His disciples’ feet… ‘I have set you an example that you should do as I have done for you.’”
Before the nails…
Before the thorns…
Before the Cross…
He knelt.
The Savior of the world — on His knees — washing the feet of those who would deny, doubt, and desert Him.
Love bent low. Grace knelt down. Mercy touched dirty places.
On this Maundy Thursday, remember:
He washed Judas' feet… and still called him “friend.”
He washed Peter's feet… knowing denial was coming.
He washed every foot, even those that would run away in fear.
That’s the love of Jesus — a love that doesn’t wait for perfection, a love that serves before it saves.
He didn’t just preach love… He performed it.
Let this day wreck you and rebuild you.
Let it stir your soul and silence your pride.
Let it remind you that we are never too dirty for His touch.
